This course will introduce participants to the basic concepts of identity politics and its rise in importance as class-less politics. It covers topics such as different waves of feminism including intersectionality and black feminism. It also tackles major post-colonialist thought including orientalism and critical race theory. It gives a clear overview of these concepts with examples of its reception across the world.

Maissam Nimer is an Instructor at Paris-Sorbonne University. Holds a PhD in Sociology from Paris Saclay University. She specializes in migration and inequality. Developed research at Paris-Nanterre, Koç, and Sabanci Universities on the experiences of refugees in Turkey and France. Her work has appeare in several scholarly journals including Critical Sociology and Migration Studies.
