The Ecological Self - 1 Week
Mon+Th, 6-8pm ET
1 week, April 14-17
Contrary to the notion of human beings as atomized, individual workers and consumers, "the ecological self" as described by foundational "Deep Ecology" philosopher, Arne Naess, offers a different way of understanding social and ecological identity and potential. This course examines Naess's ideas to consider how interactions with plants, animals, and other non-human life shape social consciousness and ecological transformation. We also explore how this thinking addresses the current ecological crisis.
